10 Halloween happenings in DeSoto County

Whether your family loves the thrill of Halloween haunts or prefers more kid-friendly fall activities, DeSoto County, Mississippi, is the place to be this October. Check out the happenings below and make plans to join us here at the top of the Magnolia State.

Saturday, Oct. 15
trunk or treat hernando.jpegCelebrate Halloween early at Hernando Main Street Chamber of Commerce's Halloween Off the Square from 3-5 p.m. in the DeSoto County Administration Building’s parking lot. Dress up the kids and walk them through the lot as they trick-or-treat at participating vendor booths.

Southaven Parks Department’s Snowden Fall Festival is also set for Saturday, Oct. 15 at the Snowden House (6205 Snowden Lane.) The fun runs from 3-8 p.m. and is set to include face painting, bounce houses, a petting zoo, live music, food trucks, a beer garden, goods from local makers and more. 

Thursday, Oct. 20-Saturday, Oct. 22
Adults, head to Mississippi Ale House and Brew Pub for its annual Oktoberfest celebration benefiting The Arc of Northwest Mississippi. The three-day event includes a 5K race, games, German food, live music, and of course, a lot of great beer.

Thursday, Oct. 27
Bring your little ghosts and goblins to Old Towne Olive Branch for Trunk-or-Treat in Old Towne from 6-7 p.m. After that, walk over to the Wesson House (9133 Goodman Road) to watch “Hocus Pocus” at this year’s final Movie Under the Stars event.

Friday, Oct. 28
The City of Southaven and Southaven Young Professionals are hosting Southaven Scare on the Square from 5:30-8:30 p.m. at Silo Square. Dress up the whole family to have some festive fun that includes candy and treat giveaways, games, specials from Silo Square businesses and more.

Saturday, Oct. 29
There are good times to be had at Horn Lake’s Halloween Spooktacular at Latimer Lakes from 5:30-9:30 p.m. Local businesses and vendors will fill kiddos’ candy bags through a trunk-or-treat event before they play games, paint pumpkins and more. 

Fridays and Saturdays through Oct. 29
haunted farm.jpegSpooky season is here and Cedar Hill’s Haunted Farm is packed with frightful activities. If you dare, take part in any of these attractions: Haunted Hayride, Zombie Apoloclypse, Trail of Terror, Sensturbia or Flashlight Corn Maize. Ticket sales for all attractions open at 6 p.m., but the fun doesn’t start until dark (around 7-7:30 p.m.) For Haunted Farm attraction descriptions, visit their website.

Weekly through Oct. 30
Cedar Hill Farm offers more family friendly fun, too. Head to their pumpkin patch to find the perfect gourd, visit the petting zoo, hop on the hayride, journey through the corn maize and more. Days of operation and business hours vary daily. Check them out here
