Over the next few months, we’re going to explore how to spend a day in the towns that make up our area on our blog. For the first installment, we’re focusing on Southaven. Read along to see how you can make the most of a day spent here.
Morning
There’s no better way to start the day than with a caffeine fix and a walk! Beans & Leaves is a go-to spot to get fueled up with a fresh cup of coffee and a pastry. With your coffee in hand, take the pedestrian bridge across the street to Snowden Grove Park and take a walk along its paved paths. Prefer a more hearty breakfast? Head to Staks Kitchen at Silo Square or Coffee Central.
Mid-day
Now that you're energized, it’s time to go shopping. At Tanger Outlets, you’ll find clothing, shoes, accessories, products and more. If you want to visit local boutiques, Southaven has plenty! Check out Crown Jules, Dappled, Stella Ivy Boutique, Janie Rose Boutique and The Branch Boutique, just to name a few.
When it’s time for lunch, head to Sidecar Cafe, Huey’s, Fresh Valley Juice & Salad Bar, Mediterranean Bakery & More or Taco Fiesta for a meal you won’t soon forget.
Need something to do after lunch? Check out Bangers Pickleball’s 10-court facility or Snowden Grove Park’s batting cages, 16 tennis courts, four pickleball courts and ADA-compliant playground. Or, pay $25 for a drop-in class at The Well Pilates. If you’re looking for something a little more low key, Central Park is a great spot for a pleasant walk. Are you over the age of 50? Stop by Forever Young, located inside Snowden Grove Park, and pay an annual membership fee of just $5 to gain access to fitness and craft classes, game groups and more. (Forever Young members must be Mississippi residents.)
Evening
Finish the night at Georgia Blue’s open-air rooftop bar or on Lucky Dog Music Hall & Bar’s patio. At both spots, you can enjoy a drink, Southern-inspired meal and a view. If you have a wine lover in tow, Sippin Silo is a must.
Other notable dinner spots to consider are Maria’s Cantina, Elfo Grisanti’s, Tekila Modern Mexican, Mesquite Chop House and Ember & Oak Prime. Want something sweet? DVOUR, DeSoto Snow & Creamery and Cadeau Chocolate Town are sure to please.
Whew – that’s a full day of fun in Southaven! Stay tuned for our next Day in DeSoto blog post. We hope to see you soon here in DeSoto County, Mississippi!
