Explore farm-to-table businesses in DeSoto County

Do you love fresh, farm-to-table products? Allow us to introduce you to Adobe Ranch Beef & Hay and Pigeon Roost Apiary here in DeSoto County, Mississippi.

Adobe Ranch Beef & Hay

The family behind Adobe Ranch Beef & Hay in Olive Branch, the Ausburns, began raising angus beef in 2022 to fill a need. Grocery store prices were skyrocketing and it was becoming harder and harder to find quality meats. Now, Adobe Ranch customers can enjoy high-quality beef that is humanely and sustainably raised and USDA-inspected. Purchase a whole steer to use throughout the year or split the protein with a friend or family member. The latter is what the Ausburns recommend, as one steer typically equates to about 500 pounds of frozen beef! Since 2022, Adobe Ranch’s offerings have expanded to include pasture-raised pork, farm fresh eggs and honey. Visit their website to learn more and to schedule a visit.

Pigeon Roost Apiary

In 2016, owner Jennifer Lane-Watson’s son was mesmerized by a presentation bee experts gave at his school. For his sixth birthday, Charlie asked for a beehive. One turned into three, and three turned into 25 beehives within the first year! Jennifer’s father was a beekeeper, so she has always been interested in the skill of maintaining beehives, but it wasn’t until Charlie expressed interest that she got serious about it, too. Since Pigeon Roost Apiary’s founding, it has amassed a loyal following and products have made their way to store shelves across the Mid-South, including Beans & Leaves in Southaven and Crossroads Vendor Market in Olive Branch. Stay tuned to Pigeon Roost Apiary’s Facebook page to be the first to know about special offerings, new retail partners and more.

It doesn’t get much fresher than that! We hope you’ll support these two farm-to-table businesses the next time you find yourself needing a top-notch steak or ribeye, or sweet nectar to drizzle over a warm biscuit.
