As the third largest county in the Magnolia State, DeSoto County, Mississippi’s 497 square miles offer ample opportunity to discover the great outdoors. Whether you like to stick to a sportier trail or sit back and relax, there’s something for everyone here at the top of the Sip.

Get wild at Arkabutla Lake in Hernando.

Arkabutla Lake provides a variety of activities and several ADA-accessible amenities, including endless hunting, fishing, exploring nature trails, boating or biking. The area boasts more than 30,000 acres of public hunting land, over 200 campsites, eight boat ramps, swimming beaches, playgrounds, picnic areas and a disc golf course.

Take a stroll at Olive Branch City Park.

Enjoy walking and mountain bike trails, a multi-lane track, dog park, tennis courts, baseball and softball fields, three fishing lakes, and an ADA-accessible playground at Olive Branch City Park’s 135-acre property. 

 

Get sporty at Latimer Lakes Park in Horn Lake.

Latimer Lakes Park is a 120-acre park featuring a nature walking trail, lighted tennis courts, baseball, soccer and football fields; fishing lakes, a 20-hole disc golf course, a volleyball court, a playground and a skateboard park.  

Take some swings at BankPlus Sports Center in Southaven.

At BankPlus Sports Center, guests of all ages can take practice swings in batting cages, play rounds of outdoor mini golf, take part in tennis matches and more at this sprawling Southaven property. 

Take in spectacular views at Hernando DeSoto River Park in Walls.

Bike, walk, fish, have a picnic, fire up the grill and more at DeSoto County’s only public access to the Mighty Mississippi,  Hernando DeSoto River Park.

Explore Lewisburg Park. 

Complete with a covered picnic table area, a walking path and a handicapped-accessible playground, this charming park in Lewisburg is perfect for laidback summer days with the family. 

Pick your own blueberries at Nesbit Blueberry Plantation.

Nesbit Blueberry Plantation is a family owned U-pick farm where guests can fill gallon buckets with delicious blueberries. Fresh jams and jellies are also available for purchase on the grounds. *Please check the farm's Facebook page for the latest information, as weather can greatly impact availability.*

Visit Bolin Grove Farms in Hernando.

Bolin Grove Farms is a third generation, 40-acre family farm located in Hernando. Head there for U-pick or prepicked blueberries and blackberries your whole crew is sure to love.
