Landers Center Expansion Updates

Big changes are on the horizon in DeSoto County, Mississippi. The expansion of Landers Center in Southaven has officially broken ground, and we have exciting updates to share!

The project is a partnership between the DeSoto County Convention and Visitors Bureau, City of Southaven and DeSoto County Government. Once complete, it will bring new opportunities for events, tourism and economic growth across the region.

The centerpiece of the expansion is a 77,000-square-foot convention center, a significant upgrade from the current meeting space at the event complex. This larger space will make it possible to host more conferences, trade shows and special events.

In addition to the convention center expansion, another project is coming to the site at the same time – a full-service Embassy Suites by Hilton hotel with 240 rooms, a restaurant and a resort-style pool with a lazy river.

Here’s what the expansion means for our community:

• $85 million total investment
• $35 million projected economic impact in the first year
• 150 events expected in the first year
• 340 new local jobs created

The new-and-improved Landers Center is anticipated to open in the fall of 2027, making it the only location in Mississippi combining a convention center, arena and hotel all in one.
