National Pet Week

28 Apr / 2022

When you come home from a long day at work, who is at the door waiting for you? Who sits at your feet during dinner ready to gobble up a bite of food you “accidentally” drop? Your fur babies, of course! We know how important they are to you and how some quality time with them always makes the day brighter. May 1-7 is National Pet Week, and DeSoto County, Mississippi, isn’t short on places for the two of you to hang!

  • The ARK Walking Trail: Located in Hernando, you can get your exercise in as you travel the winding trails with your pup.

  • Arkabutla Lake: A day on the lake is a day well spent. You never know – you might come out with a seasoned boat dog after time spent at this Hernando spot.

  • Central Park: This Southaven park is the perfect place to play fetch with your dog.

  • Silo Square: Silo Square is always abuzz. Take an outdoor stroll through the action with your animals.

  • Hollywood Feed: Pick out a new toy and an outfit, too, at the Southaven or Olive Branch Hollywood Feed locations.

  • Hernando Dog Park: dog-2982426_1280.jpegSocialize with other pups and their owners at the Hernando Dog Park located at Renasant Park.

  • Maria's Cantina: Located in Southaven, Maria’s Cantina is a Mexican restaurant that has a pet-friendly patio so you can share some quality chow time with your pooch.

  • Old Towne Olive Branch: Go for a walk around the Old Towne Fountain, and then head to the outdoor seating area located near Backwater Brewery, Mississippi Alehouse and Brew Pub, OB Pizza Co. and Side Street Burgers.

  • Southaven patios: Enjoy lunch or dinner on the patio with your pooch at Dan McGuinness Irish Pub or 10th Inning Bar & Grill at Snowden Grove.

  • Olive Bark: Not far from Old Towne, you’ll find this expansive off-leash dog park in Olive Branch’s City Park. Complete with two fenced-in sections – one for small dogs and one for larger dogs – your pups can run and play without being held back. It also includes drinking stations so your pets can stay hydrated!

There are so many places in DeSoto County that love to see your pets just as much as you like bringing them along for the ride. Headed somewhere not on this list? We recommend calling ahead to ask if it’s OK for your best pal to come along.
