Winter wonderland on display in Hernando

Hernando, Mississippi, resident Kevin Thorn is a LEGO legend known for building intricate LEGO Winter Village Collection sets. After years of constructing and displaying the sets in his home, Kevin wanted to spread holiday cheer by sharing his creations with the community. During a visit to the Hernando First Regional Library in 2020, he spotted an empty bookshelf encased in glass and knew it was the perfect spot to show off the structures.
With the help of his granddaughters, Kevin sets up the unique holiday installation at the library each year. The collection features dozens of structures, including a working train set and a replica of the McCallister home from the classic film, “Home Alone.”
Kevin rotates what’s on display each year, so if you’ve had the pleasure of seeing the winter wonderland previously, there’s something new to check out this holiday season at Hernando First Regional Library! Visit the library Monday - Thursday 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., Friday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. or Sunday 2 to 5 p.m.
