In honor of National Plan for Vacation Day on Jan. 31, we’re sharing the top four reasons to visit DeSoto County, Mississippi, this year.

With the price of just about everything on the rise, you’re likely looking to book hotel rooms, enjoy meals and plan activities that won’t break the bank. DeSoto County is just the place to save a little cash without sacrificing comfort, taste or fun. With more than 3,900 hotel rooms across our five towns, you’re sure to find one that fits well within your budget. And, the same goes for dining and activities.

Location
Location, location… it’s what it’s all about. DeSoto County borders Memphis, Tennessee, which means it’s in close proximity to the Memphis International Airport. And, it’s situated along Interstate 55 and can be accessed from Highway 51 and 61, Interstate 69, Interstate 269 and Interstate 22, making it easily accessible by car, as well. Once here, you can take in historic sites in Memphis and hop across the border to dine as the locals do and lay your head.

Boy, do we have lots of options when it comes to shopping. Whether you like to frequent national retailers or boutiques, DeSoto County is the place for some serious retail therapy. Think browsing Tanger Outlets’ 70+ stores or dozens of locally owned boutiques situated throughout the county.  

 

 

Activities
From kid-friendly activities to more adult-centric fun, DeSoto County has it all. Enjoy biking along the Mississippi River, learning about musical legends on the Mississippi Blues Trail, playing a round of mini golf, creating your own pottery piece, dining at locally owned restaurants or sipping Mississippi-made craft beers – all right here at the top of the Magnolia State.
